Description:

NLIHC released on May 22 the Spring 2025 issue of Tenant Talk, our semiannual newsletter designed to engage residents in housing advocacy. The new issue, Disaster Recovery and Housing: Navigating the Climate Crisis, will feature articles linking the work of affordable housing to the ongoing climate crisis. Download a digital copy at the right, or sign up to receive a free physical copy in the mail by May 29–while supplies last! Digital copies will soon be available in Spanish.

In this edition, readers will explore the intersection of climate change, disaster recovery, and housing justice. This issue will feature articles that examine the disproportionate impacts of climate disasters on marginalized communities, highlight tenant-led climate advocacy efforts, and spotlight ongoing recovery struggles in places like Hawai'i and Puerto Rico. From in-depth interviews with policy experts and tenant leaders to a look at the documentary Razing Liberty Square, the publication will dive into the human side of climate displacement and resilience. Readers will also find updates on federal housing policy – including recent HUD staff cuts – as well as the latest research on climate-related housing challenges. Through it all, this issue centers tenant voices and underscores the urgent need for equitable, affordable, and climate-resilient housing and recovery efforts.
