Boys & Men In Greater Boston: Challenges in Education, Employment and Health
Author:

Description:
In many areas, boys and men—especially those from lower-income and Black and Latino communities—face significant challenges. Men account for roughly three-quarters of opioid overdose and suicide deaths. By high school, boys lag girls academically. Shifting job markets have led to declining male employment rates, especially for those without a college degree.
Recognizing these disparities, Boston Indicators partnered with the newly formed American Institute for Boys and Men (AIBM) to explore these issues in Greater Boston, leading to this report.
