Training Description: This training introduces the Developer Affordability Scorecard, a community-created tool designed to help residents, community organizations, and other stakeholders evaluate proposed and existing housing developments. Participants will learn how to use the scorecard to assess affordability, housing quality, resident experiences, and community benefits through a resident-defined lens. The session will also explore how the tool can support advocacy, strengthen community engagement in development processes, and advance a shared vision for affordable, resilient neighborhoods.

Instructor Bio: Shinelle Kirk is a Senior Research Associate at the Conservation Law Foundation, where she has worked on the Healthy Neighborhoods Study (HNS) for the past four years. Her work focuses on housing affordability, environmental justice, and participatory action research, with an emphasis on partnering with residents to understand how neighborhood change affects health and well-being. She helps develop research, data tools, trainings, and engagement strategies that support more equitable housing and development decisions across Greater Boston.
