Description
Massachusetts is among the richest states in the world’s richest country. Yet far too many residents struggle to make ends meet. This is partly a result of the high and rising cost of living in our region. But it is also an income problem.
In response, the past few years have seen a surge of local experimentation with guaranteed income, much of it made possible by federal pandemic relief funding. Since 2020, 24 programs have launched in communities across the Commonwealth.
At this upcoming Author Briefing, we’ll release the latest Boston Indicators special report, The Dignity Dividend: Lessons Learned from Guaranteed Income Pilots in Massachusetts, co-authored with researchers at Children’s HealthWatch.
The report takes stock of what we’ve learned from this growing guaranteed income ecosystem, including a literature review of the strongest GI evaluations conducted nationwide and a detailed catalog and synthesis of programs in Massachusetts.
