Save Mass Save (and Alternative Compliance Payments!) Briefing
LEARNING AREA: Community Organizing and Planning
12:00pm
Duration
1 hour
Description
Join us for a briefing on H.5151, the Energy Affordability Bill passed by the Massachusetts House of Representatives that is now making its way to the State Senate.
While the Bill has many positive elements, if passed as currently proposed it would slash funding for the Mass Save program by $1 Billion, effectively eliminating essential decarbonization programs for the affordable housing community including the LEAN Multifamily program, Deep Energy Retrofit incentives, and Passive House incentives, while decimating Mass Save's workforce of 90,000 people.
The Bill would also cut Alternative Compliance Payments by 70%, which fund more decarbonization programs the affordable housing community relies on including DOER's Affordable Housing Decarbonization Grant Program and its Advancing Massachusetts Power energy storage program.
This briefing will feature remarks from several affordable housing partners whose residential communities have benefited from these Mass Save and DOER programs, and will help you take action to protect these resources for the affordable housing community.
