Better Listening, Better Relationships: Tools & Practices for Effective Listening Skills
1:00pm
Duration:
1 hour 30 minutes
Description
This revitalized session from one of the MTC's most popular trainers, Tom Ellis, will cover one of the most important professional (and personal) skills: effective listening. When we listen deeply and with focus, we can create the space where the possibility for healing, recovery, progress, and forward action is possible. In the daily bustle and mountain of responsibility experienced by those working in community action or other social services jobs, the concept of taking extra time for meetings, conversations, or coaching might seem impossible. However, through deep listening, intentional focus, and leaving the space for what needs to be discussed, you not only benefit your clients, but yourself. Additionally, we will review tools and practices for effective listening, and review how to know when to apply/utilize while serving others in our day-to-day work.
