Description
An upstream approach focuses on addressing the root causes of issues rather than just treating the symptoms. It is a strategy that emphasizes understanding and addressing the Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) and systemic factors that cause health inequities. Upstream approaches consider the social, economic, and environmental factors that influence health behaviors and outcomes. The upstream approach aims to create long-term, sustainable changes in population health and therefore individual health as well.
