Description

Join the Mel King Institute in a highly interactive, two part virtual workshop! Engage Your Audience: Persuasive Presentation Skills takes place on January 12th and 19th from 1-4pm.

Building community requires us to speak to people!  Some of us love talking in front of groups, but for many people public speaking is a challenge.   Not only do we have to deal with nervousness, but we have to get people to really listen and understand.   And most of us have had little or no presentation training.

Let’s learn how to be more effective as persuasive speakers and practice really doing it!  This training will equip you to increase the impact of your own particular voice and communication style. Using a highly interactive approach, the first session of the workshop will address key strategies for:

  • managing nervousness, including dealing with emotions around identity and power
  • preparing effectively for sincerity, clarity, and impact
  • structuring content to be persuasive and motivational

In our second session, we will focus on actually delivering presentations with confidence and animation.  Even if on Zoom, the session will be active!  Everyone will bring a short presentation to work on - an actual presentation that is coming up for you, or a standard overview that you use to interest others in your work.   The instructor will coach some speeches as models for the group, but all participants will practice with peers and receive feedback.  Everyone will leave with stronger skills and a presentation that is stronger than when you arrived!
