Lincoln Institute of Land Policy Lecture
Date: Monday, February 22, 2010
Time: 12:00pm
Location: Lincoln House (113 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA 02138)
The Metropolitan Area Planning Council, responsible under state law for developing a comprehensive regional plan for the Greater Boston region, sought the involvement of some 5,000 individuals and organizations to craft MetroFuture, a plan adopted in December 2008, after five years in the making. The plan has a focus on growth where people already live, work, and play, linked by an efficient transportation system and surrounded by a protected set of natural resources and amenities. Marc Draisen, executive director of MAPC, will reflect on the initiative’s success, challenges, and lessons learned, as MetroFuture is now poised to go from plan to implementation and action.
The event is free but pre-registration is required

The Institute for Professional and Economic Development, Inc. (IPED)’s Annual Summer Symposium on Green Affordable Housing and Community Development
Why you should attend:
Innovative Developers of Affordable Housing are pushing the envelope on energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor air quality, and smart sites—and generating significant financial, health, and environmental benefits for their projects and tenants.
Renewable Energy, one of the top three priorities for the Obama administration, is being incorporated into community development projects, and the recent stimulus legislation has provided powerful new tools for sustainable development.
HUD and Other Public Policy Makers are developing new resources and requiring higher performance that raises the bar while lowering operating expenses.
New Players—energy services companies, renewable energy providers, energy retrofitters, and environmental infrastructure experts—are responding to emerging opportunities as affordable housing and community development become leading-edge industries in the transformation from a carbon economy to a green economy and the creation of green jobs.
No other industry event brings together the leaders who are making green and affordable one and the same. No industry event offers opportunities to learn from the best about what’s working today—and what’s next. No other industry event convenes the growing community of developers, financiers, technical experts, policy makers, and advocates who are redefining affordable housing and community development in this country. To remain at the forefront of industry innovation, get the latest research on costs and benefits, and understand emerging opportunities for resources, you need to attend this conference.
