On July 1, 2009, Governor Patrick signed into law “An Act to Improve the Laws Relating to Campaign Finance, Ethics and Lobbying.” The law took effect on January 1st and now many nonprofit advocates are registered as lobbyists with the Secretary of State.
Yet many advocates are asking questions:
- What type of activities constitute lobbying activities?
- How do I report my lobbying activities?
- What is the deadline for filing disclosure reports?
Do you share these concerns, or have your own question to add?
Please join as to discuss how to report lobbying activities to the Secretary of State with:
- Pam Wilmot,
Executive Director, Common Cause - Judy Meredith,
Executive Director, The Public Policy Institute
The panel will give a quick briefing about what constitutes a lobbying activity in terms of reporting and how we can report these activities and then will open the floor to nonprofit organizations and community advocates so that they may ask questions, express their concerns, and participate in this dialogue.
Join either Monday June 7th or 21st in the 9th Floor Conference Room at 30 Winter Street [Map]. Tuition for each event is $5, and covers a snack and take-home materials. The fee may be waived upon request for those unable to pay. Please contact me at (617) 275-2923 or judy@realclout.org to RSVP for this event, or with any questions!
